Elroy Christensen, Jr. (Pete), 80, passed away on October 13, 2024, in Leawood, Ks.
He was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Elroy and Norma Christensen, on December 11, 1943.
Pete loved his days growing up on the family farm in South Dakota. His family eventually settled in a suburb of Denver, Colorado where he attended high school and went on to graduate from Colorado State University where he joined the ROTC program and entered the United States Air Force. He was extremely proud of his time in the service, where he Piloted C-130 aircrafts in the Vietnam War.
In his teen years he learned how to become an Amateur Radio Operator (Ham) and enjoyed connecting with people around the entire world. He picked the hobby back up later in life and cherished the relationships he built through this hobby.
He married his college sweetheart, Marta, who traveled the world with him during his days in the service and traveled the country helping to raise their 3 children while he served 25 years as Regional Sales Manager for Michelin Tire, Corporation.
Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, as well as travelling, camping and fishing with his family. He was an amazing storyteller and had an unrivaled talent for inserting a joke for every occasion. Only those who were keen and, on their toes, could spot the beginning of a Pete Christensen joke in the making.
Pete is preceded in death by his Parents Norma and Elroy Christensen, his mother-in-Law Dorothy Burn and multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his Wife Marta Christensen; Children Debra Weston (Andrew), Donna Evans (Rafe), and Derrick Christensen (Cristina); 4 Grandchildren Matthew Weston, Ashley Richardson (Seth), Jordan Christensen, and Jace Christensen, as well as 2 Great Grandchildren Lily and Noah Richardson; Sister Karen Richardson (Alan), Brother Jim Christensen (JoAnne); and a loving extended family.
